Eye Examinations

Eye Examinations are carried out by our registered Optometrists – Mrs Sue Maydew, Mr Nick Maydew and Mrs Deborah Hart. Examinations take 20-30 minutes (but may take longer if extra tests are required).

As well as testing your sight, the Optometrist will check the health of your eyes and look for signs of general health problems.

Regular eye examinations should be a key feature in your ongoing healthcare not only to ensure optimum level of vision and comfort but also to detect early signs of eye and other disorders including: glaucoma; age related changes such as cataracts; blood pressure and diabetes.

FREE NHS Eye Examinations are available to the following groups:

• Under 16
• Aged 16, 17 or 18 in full time education
• Over 60
• Income Support
• Job Seekers Allowance
• Tax Credit
• Pension Credit Guaranteed Credit
• HC2 Certificate
• Diabetes/Glaucoma

Children’s Eyecare

If a sight defect is not diagnosed and corrected by 8 years of age, sight can be permanently affected. Regular eye examinations from the age of 2 are actively encouraged to ensure our children have the best possible start in life. An eye test is completely free of charge to all those under the age of 16 and to those up to the age of 18 who are in full time education.

Any spectacles required are supplied free of charge. We believe our range of children’s frames is hard to beat. Many designer names are also available at little extra cost.

Under the terms of the NHS, any lost or damaged spectacles can be repaired or replaced FREE OF CHARGE.
